From Academia through Industry to Counselling & Psychotherapy
An Early Academic Career
I trained originally as a research chemist and have a BSc and PhD from King's College, London. My early career was spent teaching and doing research at universities here in the UK and in the US; I have an extensive list of academic publications from that time.
International Corporate Experience
Later I worked nationally and internationally in regulatory affairs for the chemical and the engineering industries, co-authored a book and gained a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors, London.
What I Bring to Counselling & Psychotherapy
My subsequent career as a counsellor and psychotherapist is therefore informed by familiarity with the pressures and demands of academic and of corporate life as well as considerable experience of working with people for whom English is not their first language.
I have an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from Middlesex University, have been practising as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 2006 - in the NHS as well as in private practice. I am an academic supervisor and Trustee of The Minster Centre and a guest lecturer at London Metropolitan University.
